We’re expanding our technology into uncrewed systems — including autonomous platforms, sensors, and robotics; new satellite constellations; and more diverse networks and we’re looking for a Field Service Representative for Unmanned Systems to support the deployment, maintenance, and optimization of our unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) systems.

The Field Service Representative (FSR) for Unmanned Systems will provide remote and on-site technical support, maintenance, and training for UAV systems. This role requires expertise in piloting, engineering, and radio frequency (RF) components to ensure seamless integration and operation of unmanned systems. Candidates with military backgrounds and hands-on UAV integration experience are highly preferred.

Location: Hybrid role in Chicago, IL with a minimum of 25% travel to support field operations

Clearance requirement: U.S. Persons only (Citizens or Permanent Residents)


What You'll Do

  • Field Support: Deploy, operate, troubleshoot, and maintain UAV systems remotely and during on-site visits, ensuring high performance and reliability.

  • System Integration: Collaborate with unmanned OEMs and Somewear’s engineering team to integrate UAV hardware, software, and RF communication systems, focusing on components like transceivers and antennas.

  • Piloting Operations: Utilize pilot experience to operate UAVs during testing, demonstrations, and customer missions, adhering to safety and operational protocols.

  • Technical Training: Deliver remote and in-person training to end-users, including military personnel, on UAV operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting.

  • Diagnostics and Repair: Diagnose and resolve issues related to UAV hardware, software, and RF systems, minimizing operational disruptions.

  • Documentation: Maintain detailed records of system performance, maintenance activities, and customer interactions to drive continuous improvement.

  • Collaboration: Work with Somewear Labs’ engineering, product development, and customer success teams to provide feedback and enhance system performance.


What We're Looking For

  • Required:

    • Proven UAV piloting experience with a strong understanding of flight operations and safety protocols.

    • FAA Part 107 certifications

    • Hands-on experience with UAV system integration, including hardware, software, and communication systems.

    • In-depth knowledge of radio frequency (RF) components, such as transceivers, antennas, and signal propagation in UAV applications.

    • Military background with experience in unmanned systems, avionics, or related technical roles.

    • Bachelor’s degree in engineering (e.g., aerospace, electrical, mechanical, or related field), equivalent technical experience, or 5+ years of relevant experience in UAV operations, integration, or RF systems.

    • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently in dynamic, high-pressure environments.

    • Excellent communication skills for remote collaboration and customer interactions.

    • Ability to travel a minimum of 25% for field support and customer engagements.

  • Preferred:

    • Prior experience as a Field Service Representative or similar role in unmanned systems.

    • Advanced knowledge of UAV communication protocols and RF system design.

    • Familiarity with Somewear Labs’ communication platforms or similar technologies.
